My favorite part of this project was coming up with the print idea because it was really fun creating and testing different ideas. This print is of the first letter of my name and i tried to make it so it represented me. If I was to do this project again I would pay more attention to where I was carving because I accidentally carved off to wrong piece so I had to improvise on where I wanted the ink to show on my print. While doing this project I learned how to carve linoleum with carving tools. In this project I was surprised at how hard it was to carve the linoleum and how messy using the ink and brayer was.
For this project I used blue for the shadows on the paper and the candy and yellow for the highlights.
Perspective was discovered in Greece. One point perspective is the way of show depth in a 2D format. For the first project i started with one point and then i connected the edges of the shapes to that point to make it look like they were all coming from the same spot.
The first project I did was a pinch-pot out of clay shaped like a star. As I was manipulating the clay it began to lose its elasticity and crumble; so I learned that I cant play with the clay too much. When my greenware was leather hard, I was able to go in and smooth the cracks with a sponge. When making my coil pot, I had to texture the coils and use a bit of water to make them stick together. When the pot became bone dry I was able to put in the kiln to turn it into bisque. After it was done firing I painted the glaze on and fired it in the kiln again.
